I saw a NON pc hunting thread in the hunting section, just wondering if there are any:

non restricted rifles in smaller calibers, ~.223, or anything under 0.275"

that are semi auto, and relatively cheap? (gun w/o optic for under $1000).

thanks

Aaron

At the moment, there's 2 choices for non restricted .223 calibre semi auto "non PC" rifles on the market for $1000 or less - the Ruger Mini-14 and the CSA VZ-58 Sporter. We're also looking forward to the Kel-Tec SU-16, which should be coming in sometime in the new year. Though no prices have been given, a lot of people are hoping that they shouldn't cost too much more than $1000 or so.

There is also the HK SL8 and AR180B!

And the Keltec Sub 2000 is supposed to be coming in a non restricted format and is 9mm which is nice and cheap to plink.

Have you checked the prices on a used AR-180B lately? Sure the guns originally cost around $1000 when they were still being manufactured, but prices have shot up dramatically in the last year or so. They seem to be going on average for $1600 or more for a used one.

You seem to pay a premium for the privilege of something being non-restricted. Another cost of our confusing and pointless gun laws.

I think fnrob pretty much covered the options. The only other thing I could possibly think of is something like a Remington 750 in .243, but I get the impression that isn't quite what you're looking for.

There is also the Benelli MR1 but that comes in at around $1500-ish, I think.

Sure, can i test it at crumlin?

all kidding aside, its too bad the closest thing is the ruger....

saw the VZ, is it any good? does it have the same gremlins as its bigger brother?

AR-180B are no longer in production, and even used examples are over 1K. Only choices right now are the Mini-14 and the new .223 Czech Small Arms rifle Wolverine is importing.
