Any of you guys ever hunt alone??

90% alone but as others have said once you drop something it sure is nice to have a helping hand.I do a lot of hiking when I hunt and most of my buddies prefer to ride their quads or road hunt.I only used my quad once this season and it was more to check out a new area than hunting. This season I've started converting a couple of my buddies to the walking scene so I hunted more this season with other people than any other year.So this season I probally only hunted alone 75% of the time.Glad I wasn't alone when I got my moose lol.

I truly enjoy hunting by myself, although I do also gang hunt. I always take a lightweight come along and some rope with me when hunting alone though, because I once dragged a 200+ lb buck up and down some hardwood ridges by myself. Did I mention I go in for a hernia operation in January?

I somtimes hunt alone but not often. I agree that it can be a nice experience. Longest was 4 days hunting antelope (got a nice buck too). It can be risky and it is essential to let someone know where you are going to hunt and when to expect you back. Also I would not take any undue risks such as crossing a fast creek or going up or down steep ledges and pay close attention to what the weather is doing. Both hunting alone or with others bring different hunting experiences sometimes good and somtimes not so good. Just be careful

I don't hesitate to go it alone on "day hunts", but more often I head out with 1 or 2 others...though we always go our separate ways for the actual "hunting" portions of the day. I tend to do less wandering afar when I'm by myself. A deer doesn't present a big challenge unless you're a long way off the beaten path, but a moose in a tough spot can be an entirely different story. I'm retired now, and not so adventurous in the bush as when I was younger. Part of that is being more aware of potential difficulties, and part of it is simply recognition of the fact that I'm not as strong, agile, injury resistant, physically fit, or generally able as I once was.

I prefer huunting in a party/group, but often take off for a day or two by myself.
Usually I've got an ATV not far, so pulling out game isnt an issue.
If i do hunt alone, generally, its not way off in the bush, so getting lost isnt an all week affair or worse.

I hunt most of the time alone now. My father and brother are now deceased. I do have a son. He and I hunted and did everything else together since he was the age of 6. He is now 24 and thinks Dad is dumber than a bag of rocks. I think my wife feels sorry for me. Before the kids were born, she hunted pheasants with me and our Brittany Spaniels frequently. Now she occaisionally hunts deer with me. She has taken 3 trips to Anticosti Island, with me, and has filled her tags all 3 trips. She shoots a Ruger 77 in .257 Roberts and shoots it well. She took a nice bull moose several years back. I hunt Pittsburg, N.H. each November for deer. For the most part I am alone. The biggest reason I don't enjoy hunting alone is that when you see something unique, there's nobody to share it with. I have hunted and fished all my life. Too late to give it up now for any reason.

Quite often. Loaded a lot of big deer into the truck and then home and hung them in the barn alone too.
Its nice to hunt with a friend, but its nice to be alone in the woods too.

always hunt alone in yukon.river systems mostly. makes things simple. no tales to tell after the hunt unless you want to tell them. besides, nobody is crazy enough to hunt with me??? and like troutseeker says" no body likes me"

about 50 % of the time, However would not do it out west unless I had a radio or some kind of communication system.
However saying this I have and it is very relaxing for me.
Was a little nerve racking the first time i went out west and we split up for a day in the North White river area, There were a few truble bears around that made me nervous at first but after a few Hours I felt at ease with the situation.

when I'm goin hunting, I'm going hunting! If sombody wants to come along great, if not thats OK too. I spent 21 days this season (1 week here, two days there, etc.) and only had somebody with me twice.. Haulin game out is a bit of a drag:rolleyes: . But enjoyable none the less...
