any of you shooting the .350 Legend?

As SS says, it is the ".350 Legend..."

The cartridge was designed to meet deer hunting restrictions that are present in many US states, it really make no sense here in Canada, other than it is and "yet another new cartridge." If I was to get the itch for something new it certainly would not be the .350 Legend.

Nup not the 350 but instead im shootin the 375 LEGEND........ the ol big bore legend..

looks like a cool cartridge though, im goin to have to google up!

Probably a really appealing cartridge for those that want 30-30 like performance but with even less recoil, and in a bolt action or semi auto rifle.

I could see anyone that hunts in shotgun slug only areas approaching their jurisdiction to try to get the regulations changed to allow cartridges like this to be used.

At first I was like omg this looks awesome! I really wanted to like it!

Then I looked at the numbers. I don't care about things that fit in an AR or if they're straight walled, so this just isn't powerful enough for me to give a rats ass.

I could see it being a decent option for a child or woman but then again I'm not sure this beats a 243 for that unless you've got to deal with the straight wall restrictions. It also seems like a good option for a big(ger) bore AR, especially if you loathe the sectional densities of the 45/50cal options.

it "beats" the 243 in a big way in the recoil department, which is great for a kid or new shooter. But there are also options like the 6.5 Grendel which also have minimal recoil but is more of a 400 yard cartridge. Unless you are in one of the straight wall areas, of course.

As said developed to comply with deer regulations in some states south of us, I could see the appeal if legal in shotgun only zones. I don't really see it even offering .30-30 performance, and have a hard time believing it is more likely to exit. It is certainly good at what it actually does. Meets the requirements for a few states, and kills whitetails with little recoil and gives MSR fans another option. There are lots of other established deer capable cartridges that meet various Canukistan regulations with similar or even less recoil than the promote it producing. I am not sure what loads they compared for the promotional material but I know for a fact I have .30-30, .243 and .223 loads, most even factory, that give better performance.

I’m interested too. I’m a gun guy. I do have a 30-06, but I enjoy other calibers too. I’ve hunted with a 375, but I wouldn’t mind using something on the other end of the spectrum also. Like a Mazda Miata, different strokes for different folks.

But does it? You're looking at 11ft/lbs for the 243 (100gr at 2960 w/40gr powder) and 9.6ft/lbs for the 350 (160gr at 2225 w/21gr powder). Yes that's clearly lower, but I wouldn't call it a big difference.

I'd rather not deal with something that headspaces on the case mouth either...

It's a niche cartridge, if my choices was between an AR in 350 or a Remington 870 I would take the 350 in a heartbeat.

I'm a Mini14 fan, and have often thought it would be nice to have a Mini chambered in a bigger bore cartridge...just because. :)

I don't care at all for AR's, but a Mini in .350 would be interesting (admittedly, maybe only to me). One in .450 or .458 Something-or-other would be even more interesting.

All the articles I've read have said '20% less recoil than the .243" and 20% is significant for a kid.

I think there are some shotgun slug only areas in Canada, it would be great if cartridges like this were made legal to hunt in them.

I put out a thread similar, a few weeks ago. To say, tepid, would be a understatement. Still a interesting round, self defense, large animal hunting. Course the 308 family in the ar10 accomplished that decades ago. The tag would be cost, availability, prohibitedness...between the platforms moving forward.

The numbers I used was a 16% difference, but I'm sure you can cherry pick specific ammo to make it 20%. Then again, if you compare it to a 80gr tsx at 3350 (Barnes factory ammo specs) it's only 9.9ft lbs, or like 3% difference.

The claims in the marketing are pretty dubious. They claim more energy than a 30-30 at 200yds, with the 30-30 only having 781ft lbs to the 903 ftlbs for the 350... But 160gr leverevolution 30-30 has 1300ftlbs at 200yds, federal fusion 170gr claims 1115ft lbs, and even a 150gr round nose interlock claims 830ft lbs @200, so they must have picked the lamest 30-30 load they could find.
