Any one ever put a red dot on a lever action?

a ghost ring or tangent does a better job imo,the darned red dot covers too much of the target at 150 yards and up- you might as well use that almost useless buckhorn- my savage 99 has a range of about 267 yards- if i were to use that a dot sight, it would obsure most if not all of the target- mght be ok on one of the pistol chambered rifles, but only to 100 yards

Depends on the dot size.

A 2 MOA dot will cover about 3 or 4 inches at 150 yards depending on how bright the dot is.... I don't know about you but I don't think I could even see a 3 inch target at 150 yards and my iron sights probably cover the same amount.

If you aren't comfortable with laying the dot right on target you could also sight in for a 6 o'clock hold.

It's hard to mount a dot with out a rail and as soon as you mount a dot you are a tacticoolfool anyways......I wouldn't worry about it!

The tread has some extreme examples of accesorizing lever guns but since you asked "has anyone ever put a red dot on a lever action" I thought I'd show you some of the things people have done.

The XS rail system is pretty easy to mount on a Marlin and some Winchesters you just need to find one for sale in Canada.

I also like peeps on my levers but a small section of rail in front of the receiver is a good option to have.

red dot sight

I purchased a red dot sight from the old SIR in Winnipeg many years ago, had it on my 308 rem 600 and later on a Marlin 30,30. If you can find one with a 1MOA dot or at the most 2 MOA dot than in MHO there is no finer sight for running deer,

Red dot

one of the rifles I carry at work is a Marlin 45-70 with a Trijicon reflex sight on it, it is fast accurate. I don't really care what it looks like as long as it works. Drives Boomer nuts lol

This is my new Marlin 336C 3030 with a Bushnell TRS-25 on it. It has a 3moa dot, but I'm not too worried as it will be a bush gun. I like it. I might throw an EO tech on it to try also.

I had an Ithaca .22 LR "saddlegun" with iron sights that were impossibly set to shoot low and to the left.......a very basic "red-dot" clone on the dovetail groove :) , and I was - very happily :yingyang: - back in business ! ...;)

I wanted to put one on my Marlin but all the stores close to me were sold out. I ended up spending a little more and put a Vortex Sparc on it. I think it looks ok and my eyes are happy again. Those iron sights just don't work for me anymore.
