Was wondering if anyone in Canada refurbishes old K4 Weavers scopes. I have an old El Paso K4 i would like to ship to give it the once over. The glass is a little glazed.

Cost

My K4 fogs up.

Any idea of a ballpark pice for a refurb?

Would it be worth it compred to the price of a new Bushnell?

Well, if you're talking cheap Bushnells, then a refurb will cost you more. Lot better scope when you're done with the Weaver tho'. I recall buying a case of 3-9 Bushies a few years back in the US, they were blowing them out, for $15 US a piece if I bought enough of them. Everyone got scopes for Xmas that year. I still prefer the Weavers. - dan

I have an old K-4-bit apart from the fine reticule, there;s nothing wrong withb it-it doesn't fog.Should I spring for a refurbishing-which I assume would include new seals, or simply carry on using it.I'd hate to be on a trip and have it let me down. What is other people's experiance with olf K-4's?

Ratherbefishin,

I was out on opening weekend on the coast last year in heavy heavy rain and I had a small but tasty bear come up right behind me around 3 metres away, huffed and snorted as if he didn't like the smell and walked away down the bank.

The scope was fogged up when I sighted on him quartering away at about 30 yards away, so I wiped it off quickly, re-mounted the rifle and found it still fogged up.

The fog cleared up when I brought everything home and let it dry, but I won't hunt with that scope in its present condition.

The year before it had helped me get a deer November 1 in clear very cold conditions. It was moisture it didn't like.

I mean I can't complain, my buddy gave me the darn thing.

Bit it is steel, U.S. made and if I can get it refurbed for $100 or less,, that might just be my Christmas present to myself.

I mean what kind of new scope are you going to get for $100?
