Any opinions about Mueller APV 4.5-14x40 Silver Scope

I think they are great. I have one on a 223 bolt action and another on a 22 rimfire. Very sharp and bright optics. You can see a 22 cal hole in paper at 200 yards with it. I'm not into adjusting my scopes up and down for range, these scopes aren't target turret. The adjustments seem fine and I've had no problem so far. The included sunshade is a great bonus. I was out on the weekend shooting varmints to sundown and the only rifle I could use was the one with the sunshade. The adjustable objective turns easily and smoothly and that was very important for making fast adjustments out in the field. For what I'm using them for, they are well suited and appear to be high quality.

There are many happy customers in the states. Read some review on Rimfire Central's web site. Most people are very pleased, but there is the odd one what had some problem, but it doesn't sound like there are many, and the warranty should be good for it for at least the original customer.

Not sure if its suited for a higher powered rifle, but its good on a 223 or rimfire. Great for punching paper at various distances.

Will they ship to Canada or is there a distributor here? On their website, like $119 or something? Have read lots of good about them.

Canadian Distributor

Yes, the Canadian distributor is in Winnipeg ... I bought one of the first ones from him and he delivered it personally. From the American Mueller website ...

Inflation?

Hi guys,

In June of 2006 (when the dollar was worth much less) I paid $135 (in Canada) for my APV.

In the United States at that time they were selling at an introductory price of $89. The scope was the result of a long collaboration between Mueller and the folks on the Rimfire Central website ... with a similarly-long gestation period.

I'll finally start using it tomorrow ... let's see if I got my money's worth!

I can't import them into Canada for what they sell them for in the U.S.

Why not? Do we have some tariff protecting some unknown industry in Canada that is pumping up the price? What is pushing your cost up?

Just wondering, not trying to mess around with you, I sometimes take on causes and tariff's are my pet peeve at the moment...

Cheers, Bob

I can't speak for White Falls and their issues surrounding the costs of rifle scopes, but I can tell you that there are issues with US exporters having to pay for licenses to sell/ship outside of the US and this additional cost is tacked on as a surcharge. This impacts my bottom line greatly with the importation of barrels. There are then issues with shipping costs, brokerage and exchange. In a perfect world, we could buy merchandise for the same price as Americans, but there are so many hassles and there is a distinct lack of interest in catering the very small Canadian market segment - especially with those Liberal priques flaunting obtuse gun control.

Keeping the thread on track however, I have an 8-25X50 Mueller Eraticator and I am absolutely thrilled with it for my gopher gun. The only 25X scope I would consider buying for less than a grand.
