hey everyone, I am buying my first big game rifle, and i have my eye on a t3 lite stainless in 7mm rem mag. Any opinions either way?
it is a demo, the shop is asking 595$

Thanks for the help.

Awesome rifle, awesome accuracy, awesome price. Action is very slick. The only downside is the cost of a spare magazine.

I love mine.

For the stainless that's a great price. You will find many posts raving about the Tikka actions. They are buttery smooth :D I have the blued version in 270. Great gun, very accurate out of the box too. The only set back to the Lite models is just that, they are light weight so they wouldn't be too good for the larger cals. Another thing to mention, those mags cost about $100 each. Not exactly cheap in comparison to most mags out there.

As previously mentioned, great gun and accurate. The only downside might be the recoil depending on how well you tolerate it. If you do get one, I recommend investing in a LimbSaver recoil pad to take the sting out of the heavier recoiling cals.

Of course a rifle that weighs less than 7lbs is going to kick... the whole idea behind the T-3 light is the weight!
I got news for you... the T-3 Light is very friendly to shoot compared to any other rifle of similar weight in the same caliber.
There are many ways to manage recoil.... just buy the T-3 you are going to love it!

awsome rifles , probably the first rifle I have held onto for more than a year now and have no plans of selling my T3 300 mag, the lite stainless in bigger cals does have a abundance of recoil no doubt but if its a worry then look at the T3 in a wood stock and blued , alot less recoil and same deadly accuracy :)

thanks for your help guys

thanks for all your comments gentlemen, due to the lack of negative response, i decided to go with it, I haven't fired it yet, but i will let you all know how it goes.

Got 2 in the LS version in 270WSM, a buddy has 1 a LS version in 300WSM, a Varmint SS in 22-250, and a 223 in the Tactical. All great shooters!

If not a Tikka, go SAKO !! But for the price of the 7mm T3 SS, I'd go for it.

Well, as i mentioned above i bought it, and i fired it yesterday, Canada day came early at the crumlin sportsman's asociation let me tell you! that is one loud round! the kick was impressive, but not untolerable (or intolerable, forgive my english, but give me a break, I'm a plumber ) )
the gun was accurate enough to impress this inexperienced shooter, and is she ever beautiful. i followed a rigorous pattern of firing, cooling and cleaning the barrel, in the belief that i was breaking it in. I couldn't help thinking that i was wasting my time and my patches, but it is done now. what is everyone elses opinion of breaking in barrels?

Well, you did state it was a "demo", so it's already been fired, and I wouldn't worry about it. Good idea though to cool the barrel between groups. enjoy the gun, I love my T3 SS .300WM :D

I have a T3 Lite in 308. It is a great little rifle, and extremely accurate. Today I was able to shoot a 1" group at 100m using factory ammo and a Harris bipod (not from a bench rest). They are good for hunting, although if you are looking for a target rifle then I would also recommend the Varmint series.

I would not worry about the cost of extra mags, as it is unlikely that you need one. I would recommend a bipod such as a Harris, an aftermarket recoil pad as the factory pad sucks (I am about to order a Limbsaver) and a scope with not much more than a 40mm objective. Personally I have found that a 3-9 is pretty good, although a 4-12 would also be great as this rifle is more than capable of shooting past 100m accurately.

As for breaking in barrels, there is not too much that you need to do, but the first 10 or so rounds can involve cleaning in between rounds if you like. After that shoot until she smokes! :D
