Anyone here read "Surplus Firearms" magazine by Guns'n'ammo? What a great rag, loads of neat surplus guns and antiques, shown with the gear and uniforms issued with them. I love the fact that they bother with histories of the combatants, and the manufacturing and design dramas.

I'm getting jaded over this sort of gun ####. There are only so many ways to write a breathless article on the M1C Garand or Persian Mauser. Too much puffery and exagerration. After a while the stories lose their effect.

There is a genre of gun writing that does get my interest, and that is when one writer concentrates on a particular feature of a firearm and carries his review across many different firearms. Kokalis for example, writes about full autos.

It's the only G&A publication that's any good.

I have to agree. I've picked up others because of the infrequency of "surplus", but find the others read like coles notes. Here's the basic idea, lets move on before you learn anything. I'd like to see a monthly publication made by people in the field. Tips, testimonials, and training by people who live by the techniques tought. Thats a lot of t's.

I've never even seen it. There is one local convenience store that does have a good selection of gun rags though, I'll have to see if he has this one. Is it published quarterly?

Yup, I'd like to learn more about the various techniques with each rifle type.
How certain sights were used etc etc.
