Gday, have any of you blokes with a 9.3 in Tikka T3 had any issues with the Recoil lug, if so how many shots roughly until you noticed it needed a Steel Lug or were you one that swapped it out ASAP.

Thanks!

I have a T3 Forest in .260 Rem and found that after two boxs of ammo the factory aluminium recoil lug was getting hammered and decided to swap it out with a Lumley Arms titanium recoil lug, purchased from Coretac Solutions.
The fit in to the receiver was perfect and the fit into the stock was tight unlike the the aluminium recoil lug that had originally come with the rifle.
I see that you are from Australia, the Lumley Arms products are made over there so perhaps getting one to you will be a bit cheaper than having to order it from Canada?

did you guys find it needed it, or you just preferred it?

that's the likely issue if it is too buggered, what will I notice? erratic groups? not hold a poi? not much?

thanks

My previous 30-06 Battue's factory lug only had a minor imprint on it and never got worse. I did eventually replace that lug with a Lumley Arms titanium unit, but I really didn't need to.

I think its supposed to imprint as a form of bedding and they only changed it because people didnt like it. I have 30 06 ,6.5x 55, and had a 243 all of them imprinted a certain amount and then seemed to remain the same.i wouldnt replace it

All the short actions that I had did not need a new lug. But I never had a 9.3. Maybe it needs one if you see any damage.

I just checked the lug on my .300WinMag T3's original stock, which I switched for a B&C after maybe a couple hundred rounds. There is a bit of visible marking, but I don't know if it would have continued to worsen if I were still using it. The gun shot extremely well even before the stock swap, so I don't think it was a problem.
