I just picked up a model 39-2 9mm .I put 100rnds through it on Sat it worked greate no malfunctions at all and accuracy was good under 5" at 25 yards. Anyway I never had a smith centerfire auto or alloy framed pistol before and was wondering if there are any special maintenence concerns. also wondering about holster and mags.

I've got 4 S&W autos. 39-2, 539, 469, and 4006.

Clean and lube it as per any pistol. Mags are not real easy to find and they're likely to be expesive if you can find them. I've got 5 39/539 mags now, found a couple at a gunshow.

I've got an Uncle Mikes kydex holster that will fit all my Smiths, single and double stack. Can't remember which model it is, but it's the one listed as fitting 5900 series and some 4000 series pistols. I just adjust the retension screws when I change pistols.

The 539 and 469 are my favourites.

I have owned a model 39, 39-2, 469, 3904, 3906, 3913 and now this 3906

with a 3913 top.

Very accurate and shoots to the point of aim at ten yards but not a bullseye pistol for sure. I like the newer versions because there's no barrel bushing. One less part to wear out.
I used to have a contact in the US for mags, but no more. I am going to try and order some from S&W

I am in the States but I bought some 8 round magazines for my M39-2 from this guy: http://feedback.express.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ExpressMerchantProfile&userid=girl-scout-dog&iid=7234044132&frm=3091 Call your Canada Customs to see if he can mail legal magazines direct to you. Regards, Richard :D
