Any secret to removing SMLE rear sight?

Any secret to removing SMLE rear sight? This is a first for me, I removed the cross-pin and tapped it gently toward the muzzle but it won't budge. Any suggestions appreciated.

Are you replacing it with a scope mount of some kind?

Mine doesn't have a screw, it has a recessed plug with a "C" on it:-( Thanks guys I managed to get it off. Besides the plug someone had soldered it on!
