Any SKS dealer in Ontario?

Finally, just today I've got my license, and tomorrow I am goint to spend some funds on SKS I dreamed about for a long time. As I've got from reading here, lucky westerners have a lot of dealers, but about poor us Ontarians? Can I come over to some place in say 4 hours driving from GTA and choose my toy myself, or I have to order it from BC/Yorkton/etc?

May be somebody wants to sell his in great condition for a reasonable price?

Plus one newb question - my license came with letter, and that letter says "Special condition: carry this document with your license card ..." - does it mean what it means - I have to have on me license + letter?

Hi ele,

Get access to the EE section (Equipment Exchanges) of this forum, there are a few good SKS deals these days. You need to request access to that section to the forum moderators. No problem buying from anywhere else in Canada, except you add the shipping to the buying price.

If you want gun in hand to buy, drop up to Epps in Orillia. Not only a nice drive, great sales people. Epps is a site sponsor, just look at the ads at top. I got my last SKS there and am totally happy. You do have to wait till stock comes in like most other dealers. Catch as catch can...

call frontier firearms.they are a site sponser.you can get a nice one for 239 +tax.thats shipped and you get it in 2 to 3 days.i bought 1 and had it out on saturday and it shot great.
 
What are you looking for in an SKS? If you're looking for a collectible one,you're options are limited. They are the ones that were imported by IZH,and have all been sold. So for one of those it's pretty much the EE only. If you only want a shooter,and don't care how it was pinned,and that the mag has been restamped,you have many choices in black and bright bolts. Unfortunately the best prices are all mail order. Moving Target,Trade Ex,Yorkton Home Hardware,Frontier,Lever Arms all have ones to pick from.

Most of gun stores I've been to had Russian SKSs in stock.
They all had surplus ammo for them, I'd call around. (They're not site sponsors, so I'm not listing their names)
Mail order is a bit cheaper, but if you go when they're slow the local store should answer all your questions, show you how to operate it etc, and they're not much more expensive.

If it's your first gun, I'd get a nice .22lr first.
Makes your first 5k rounds quite a bit cheaper.
