Slugs are the reason I started reloading for 12ga; buckshot was the logical next step. Target load is cheaper to buy factory loads by the flat.
If you are shooting a lot of slugs or buckshot it may be worthwhile to look into reloading. I can load 1oz slugs or 8 pellet 00 buckshot for about $.40/shell paying $2/lbs for lead to melt; about $.25-.30/shell with free lead. I have load data for 8, 9, and 12 pellet 00 buck in 2-3/4" hulls so I can choose my payload as well. Managed recoil or full power are no more difficult than each other. It does require you to start lead casting though as if you are buying factory made buckshot or slugs the savings disappear pretty quick.
allthough the Wolverine deal is good,,when you factor in shipping,,it's no so great,,,i got so nice remington 00 buck at my local Le Baron in box of 25 at $18.00 a box with my Le Baron discount..might see if you have one around your location
Check out Walmart. I was able to get a box of Win Super-X Slugs, 15 for $15.08. While not a screaming deal it is far better then most stores and probably better then most online places once S&H is calculated into total.
I just picked up 10 cases of 1 1/8, 2 3/4 slug yesterday and should be up on the website at Wolverine Supplies tomorrow. IIRC it retails well under $1.00 per round (been a while since the last batch)
