Surprisingly the Texican wasn't hand crafted but, from what I've read it was the first, and only firearm of any type made using ultra-high speed and electron discharge precision machining.
From the manufacturer:
"Unlike conventional CNC machining, the surfaces of the finished parts are perfectly smooth and straight; they do not require grinding or polishing, so there are no rounded edges, no distorted screw holes. Flat surfaces are flat, not wavy. The Texican sets itself apart from the other single action revolvers. All Texican parts are either ultra-high speed or electron discharge machined from chrome-moly steel forgings or bar stock (no castings) to dimensions measured in tenths ( ten thousands of an inch), then precisely installed, achieving an exactness of fit and smoothness of function not found in custom revolvers at twice the price."
I can attest that the end result is what I call flawless, there's absolutely no gap anywhere. Compared to my Colt's or Taylor's the fit of the lower frame, upper frame "ears" and hammer is incredible. I also have a Freedom Arms M97 in .45LC and the fit is comparable to the Texican, the cylinder locks up like a bank vault without any perceptible movement.
The frame, loading gate, and hammer are Color Case Hardened by Doug Turnbull (Turnbull Restoration) which is a very nice finishing touch, like the higher end USFA's and the other revolvers made in small numbers by Hartford Armory in 2003-2005.
