Any thoughts on the new SAVAGE MODEL 42?

22LR/410GA will be out of factory production by the end of May and the 22WMR/410GA version should be available by the end of August. These are being made out of Westfield, MA.

I have a 24F, synthetic stock, .223Remington and 12gauge. It's as light as two guns (- not light ones. )

But I still like it.

 So you mean it was 14 lbs?

I have a 22hornet/20g synthetic stock 24F.

It is a fine shooter and a joy to own. I put a vortex sparc on it.

I often wonder why Savage only makes these combo guns every so many years because there is a market for them... I'm not crazy about the look of the model 42 but I would have to handle one to decide either way with regards to buying one.

I would love a 17hmr/410 combo. or how about one in 17 hornet over 410 or 20g? I think that would be hot!

I was just thinking of a 17HMR/20ga combo. It would be a good fit to a modernized combo gun.

22 lr/20 ga would be my choice. I like the extra oompf of the 20 ga. Plus you can feed it challenger slugs which are pertty good slugs.
