I was out hunting in the cold rain and I found that the slightest thing would make my scope lenses fog on the outside. They even fogged under my flip-up lens covers! Does anybody have any tips on what I might be able to apply to lenses to reduce the amount of fogging? Thanks:)

Bushnell Elite 4200 Rainguard coating.

Works...

LOL:)! Yeah, I know. My buddy has one and when we compared notes after the hunt, his scope was clear as a bell the whole time.

Somebody told me to wipe the lens with a piece of raw potato  and then wipe the lens clean. I haven't tried this. But I'm open for suggestions...

London Drugs or a quality camera supply shop and ask for anti fog wipes/liquid.

I resisted suggesting this as the wrong product could strip the coatings on your scope making matters even worse. USE AT OWN RISK.

At best, this stuff works sort of and needs repeated application.

many brands are looking at 'rainguard' type coats as the Bushnell product is working great in the real world.

I think the Elite 3200 comes with these coatings now too so would be a much lower priced option.

Bottom line is how much does missing your game cost?

Common dishwashing liquid detergent. Smear on a very small amount and polish it clear. There are better things, usually made for the purpose, but if you haven't got them, detergent works and is usually easy to find.

like 604shooter said - saliva works.

you can buy lens antifog made for goggles and facemasks but honestly saliva works best and is free, and you never forget to bring it. just make sure whenever you are wiping the lens of your scope use a soft clean cloth always, and dont 'scrub'.
a lot of people just use the corner of their shirts or something, but you could have some grit/dust on there and itll scratch the lens - even a cheap scope doesnt deserve this. i bought a bunch of lens cloths from an eyeglass store and just leave one in the inside pocket of each hunting jacket.
