Is there any value in IVI 9mm and 5.56mm range brass? I have a bunch of it here that I have collected over the years and was going to get my daughter to sort and clean it to make a bit of extra money to pay for a kayak she wants. However, I do not want her to waste her time if it is worthless.

I know it is not worth as much as commercial brass, but was trying to figure out if there would be a market for it at all.

Not sure that I can help - I have bought and sold a fair amount of bullets and brass on CGN - my notes say my last purchase of .223 Rem was in 2014 - was various FC three dot, four dot and five dot - so sort of out of date, I guess.

The main plus for me about military brass like IVI and Lake City - is if the primers are still crimped in, then you know they were only previously once fired. Was much brass purchased that the seller spent time to tumble, re-size, etc. - so is only their word that it is actually once fired - until you seat primers and suspect otherwise. We found a local shooting spot and picked up several hundred IVI 5.56 on the ground - is no longer something that I would buy - is enough for me here.

Someone else would have better idea about what they would sell for. I know that 300 x Lake City 30-06 will fit into a Small Flat Rate Box with Canada Post - so that is just under $20 to mail to anywhere in Canada - maximum 5 kg (11 pounds) weight - and comes with tracking and $100 Insurance (if that is important to you or the buyer). I see Cabela's.ca lists .223 Rem in stock - Nosler brand - $89.99 for 50 cases (Taxes and shipping would have to be added to that). So at least old days reputation of IVI brass would say it was worth half of that? But then less, if a bunch of mixed years, not weight sorted, no evidence of only once fired, and so on.

Some years ago I bought what was purported to be once fired 6.5x55 brass from FSR target ranges in Sweden (Norma head stamp) - all tumbled and made shiny - primers still in, though. I recently bought another batch from same guy, except this time, not processed at all - they are just as they were picked up. My thinking was that I already have all the toys, and the time, to process my own brass - is not really worth to me to pay someone else to do so, if that is what I want. Versus a batch of different caliber from a different seller - advertised as "ready to reload" - except not all same length, etc. - so his version of "ready", was different than mine. Maybe is not so important for 7.62x39?

Ah, I did not know that. Nothing illegal about how we got it as the RSO gives us hell if we do not clean up the brass. Usually ends up being RCMP and military brass we are cleaning up more than ours.

She may sort it to see if there is any commercial stuff for desr old dad and then we will chuck the rest. Not worth a run to the scrap yard for what we would get out of it that way.
