Found this in the collection, didn't realize I had it, does it have any collectors value? What about the cutout in the wood by the bolt ? Was it produced that way or bubba'd ?
Date is 1919
Smle 111*
Thanks! !

Hard to tell from the photos the condition. Looks like a mag cutoff cutaway . Value should start @ $450 if in any kind of decent condition. How did you not realize you had this one? Too many rifles?

Ya lol, have one big safe just for mil surplus that is crammed full of stuff I hadn't seen in yrs... starting to thin it out so I can concentrate
On trading some quantity for more quality. Will keep a handful of the best and rarest ones though.

Not worth a penny.... box it up and ship it to me at your expense of course. Haha. Couldn't resist.... I see rust and such, on a close up pic there... doesn't look to me to be close to the $450 price range. Need some better quality pics... muzzle pic, bore pics, flaws and such to begin to give a real estimate...

Yes it needs a good cleaning. .. Il get to that some day soon then take better pics ... just wondering if it was a 150 ish gun or a possible 350ish or more, I know depending on model some start Really high even if in poor shape, I'm just not very familiar with all the different endfield models. ... Il try to get some more of the unknown value guns on here within the week or so :)

I think he means the wood missing on the right side behind the charger guide. That is a 'boo-boo' but could be fixed. The wood forward of the guide is lower for the mag cutoff but is original.

That is correct! I thought it was wrong . Most pictures I've seen had the cutout but not all the way back

That wood broken off and missing from the forend in front of the bolt handle needs to be replaced and as is takes about $75 of the regular price for an average condition all matching serial number one which are going for about $450-$500. If the bore is poor take another $50-$75 off the value, and if not matching serial numbers take another $50 off.

I have seen a few SMLE's for sale in the $375 range lately, and I saw a very nice all matching wartime issue lithgow example with a new replacement barrel installed in the 1950's during a FTR overhaul, it was at a local dealer not that long ago for $550.

I would agree, with the price assessment

not too hard to fix that, finding the proper brass pins to pin in the small filler block or use small wood pins.
