Any VZ/CZ 858 'Range Reports' yet?

Re: range report

I was on the range today and was watching my friend shoot his. I fired a few rounds it was ok nice rifle for the money. The most intresting thing was watching the back sight go down range after the 10th round.

Sounds like someone at CZ forgot to install the cross pin...

I would think with a decent set of sights or a optic mounted they would group as good as the ammo would do.

With my VZ - the best I could get if 5-6" at 100m or about half what my AR carbine does with its backup irons...

We just completed a Tactical Carbine Course. We had approx half using AR-15's and the other half using VZ-58's (6 each).

The VZ's never had any FTF's at all and by the second day and during the PWT's the VZ-58 shots and emergency magazine change we on par with the AR-15's: 5 seconds for a double tap from the low ready, followed by an emergency magazine change (chamber empty), and then a follow up shot. These guys had only used the VZ-58 for one full day at that time.

These all shot decently for a battle rifle even though we didn't measure the group sizes. The shooters were all able to hit man sized targets. These are nice likl rifles and fun to shoot.

Thanks Pop for your report. I think it has more realism than other reports since these rifles were designed to hit man size targets like you guys used. BTW did you get the FFUR addon for OFP? Aiming and hitting something is much harder now, including the AI ;)

ooohhhh....

OFP....

Any word on the release of OFPII?

Sounds like a fun course....wish I had time to come out to some of them (or hell, even run some myself out east here!)

Sounds like a fun shooting gun Pops!

I have gotten 4" @ 150 yards with the brake using Czech M43 '85 batch and 3" with Hungarian so it isn't an AR in acuracy but it is not bad for 7.62x39mm! If you had to use the gun for it's orginal purpose which was light vehicle destruction and light infantry trimming then it would serve it's purpose well. Don't expect it to shoot the centre out of a toonie at 300 yards

I just picked up my 858 today. went to an indoor range as it was dark when I got it. I couldn't use my czech ammo because they said it was steel cored. Anyways, I bought two boxes of American Eagle 124 gr FMJ stuff to test the thing out on.

The range was only 50m so I will have to do more testing later. First group was decent 2- 3", and a little high.

The next four groups were decent as well, but they were 10 shot groups, and way high (again about 2-3" group size).

The final group was done carefully, as they were my last 5 rounds. this group was about 1-1.5", with one flyer, which can most likley be attributed to me, as I can't shoot for ####. I also aimed low, as I want to sight the thing in at 100 m.

I do have pics on my camera, but I am searching high and low for my ####in USB cord. Also, this ammo was 14.95$/box of 20, and I can't say for sure how good this thing will shoot with my czech m43 (that has a bxn # of 65)

For the price, and with the extras it comes with, this thing easily out performs my sks in every category (my sks was a D model with a folding stock that wobbled so much I couldn't even hit the ground at 10 yards with the ####ing thing).

I also took some pics of it beside my 16" AR and my 18" bbl Mossy 500 Mariner. I will post the pics ASAP.

K here goes nothing. I created an account at photobucket, so hopefully this #### works.
