Well I never claimed to be an expert & I did indeed learn something on the interwebs today while looking for a part source. I guess some of the early 1873 guns came with a solid butt plate instead of a trap door type. Can someone educate me on the differences with the crescent style butt plates & when they switched from no trap door to a trap door for the cleaning rods? Or was this an option that could be had at anytime during production? Thanks for any help, -Dances
