Hey fellas - are any of you guys Robinson Arms experts?

Here's the deal: Last year or thereabouts I bought this XCR-L keymod from the boys up at Barton's in Grande Prairie, AB. Dunno if they are sponsors or not - if they aren't they should be, and you will want to drop in if you're up their way. In any event I bought the gun on impulse, put a few rounds down the pipe and went 'Meh.' and put it in the gun safe. (I had just also bought an M1A and had my hands full with that. Then came a stubbie AR from Black Rain after that...) - GAH! - long story short, the XCR-L went into the gun safe where I promptly forgot it and it languished for over a year.

So last weekend I dragged it out and actually sat down with it...and yannow...these aren't half bad rifles! In fact they are so good...I might actually recommend them as a viable NR alternative to my beloved AR's! I put some of my experimental reloads through it and I am almost certain this thing is going to go under 1.5 MOA with ease!

I'm having some teething problems though. I had almost finished my session when the gun bunged up and wouldn't cycle properly. As near as I can tell - that rubber buffer thing on the back of the bolt might have come out. I'm not sure of this but I took the gun apart, reassembled it...and it seems to be working now. Does that make sense to any of you old hands?

Also, can anyone recommend a list of spare parts? What are my sling options with it as well? I would like the classical GI/Marine leather sling set up if at all possible. Seriously, I am just gobsmacked at how well this rifle seems to fit, and how I just let it slide into the gun safe without seeing it. If you haven't handled one of these - make sure ya grab one of your buds and try it next time you're on the range or at the gun shop. I think this beast might have some potential worthy of your consideration...

They are great rifles, Wolverine Supplies has the parts you'll need. You also will need to know what version of the rife you have to know if they're Type 1 or Type 2 parts (you have type 2). I would recommend spare firing pins, buffers and retaining pins maybe recoil spring. Also maybe a gas block, incase you forget to set it correctly (after cleaning / disassembly) and end up ejecting it downrange after changing gas settings ... So vary few small parts / low cost. Major issues would be piston or bolt cracking (very rare now).

Get a couple extracter "springs" and a spare extractor or two for sure.
And a spare ejector may come in handy. If it wears down over time it could cause a lot of problems with the feeding/cycling of the gun. Cheap insurane to have one at hand.
Maybe a spare operating rod but that's going to start getting pricey.

The extractor "Spring" isn't really a spring, it's piece of cyclindrical rubber! I bought one second hand off the EE, buddy selling was full of s**t and said it worked fine. First trip out was FTE after FTE etc
The rubber dong can weaken if you use strong cleaners/solvents to clean your rifle. I'm 99% this was the case. It even looked like buddy took it apart to mess with it to get it to work. Anyhow, I swapped the spring and the xtractor ($25 in parts) and the thing would eat anything I could put through. Soft Point, FMJ, OT anything!
After that I don't think I ever had a single stoppage with it after over 1K rounds. All on gas setting one. Casings were flying 20 feet!
Not very accurate with irons because of the stubby short sight radius on the older models but it is indeed a very well designed and well built gun. Lots of fun to shoot.

Gas problems can also arise when the bolt holding in your gas block gets loose, keep it tight or it wont cycle right.

For a sling mount, I run a Blue Force Gear QD sling mount and a 1 point VooDoo Bungee Sling.
