I run sparc on a NEA upper handgaurd, as im sure a lot of people here do. Has anybody else had any long term issues with the sparc? Ive run one on an AR and M305 with zero problems, and the one on my 858 was doing great. But after year of use, and a handful of high round count sessions (500+) it stopped turning off, and acting funny. I say funny because it wouldnt turn off, so Id remove the battery, replace it and it would stay off, but rack the charging handle or dry fire it and the sight would turn on. THen eventually it started staying on even after removing the battery.

Its the only thing I can think of, is the heat screwed it up. Just wondering how everybody elses are holding up.

Have 2000+ rounds through the setup.

That doesnt suprise me, mine ran perfect for a long time and I think overall its agreat optic. And I think the B.C. handgaurd is higher no? it might not get as hot.

My Sparc has started acting exactly the same way. I had it on my AR but then replaced it soon after with an Aimpoint. It sat for several months on the shelf then I put it on my 858. It's probably only seen 400-500 rounds between the two. Then it started acting like you say. Won't turn off, brightness settings will work then not work, NV setting sometimes won't work. I also had it turn itself on when I dry fire. Could be the battery maybe, but seeing that it's hardly used I got pissed with it so it's back on the shelf.

Have two only problems is hard too turn on. Even though they cost more they are my second line until I buy some more TRS-25s.

Mine was all screwed up too. When racking the handle it would turn off, then pull the trigger it would turn on. Go to shoulder the rifle, turn off. Fire it, then turn on.

Just crap on the CZ for me.

Lifetime warranty.
Not working..... send it back.
I'd try a fresh battery first just to rule out the most obvious possible issue.
Hopefully Vortex will update their red dots soon because the controls don't seem that good to me. They should make on and off a push and hold affair for starters.

Ive changed the battery numerous times, tried brand new ones and 3/4 life (approximate) out of the sparc off my AR and still the same. How is the hendsolt on the NEA upper? co-witness?

Im going to send it back to vortex, and put it on my 22/45 lite, probably give a burris fastfire a try in the CZ.

Not a Sparc, but on my Vortex PST I had that same kind of issue with the reticle illumination. Turns out I was just a wimp when I tightened the battery cap on. I am not sure how the Sparc battery is held in place, but could be as simple as manning up and tightening the cap on properly.
