I have one, its a nice little package for bush busting. Mine comes in just over 6lbs, sans scope.

I know someone who lives local has one, stainless/synthetic, as he brought it into the local gunshop a couple weeks back for "show & tell". I did get a chance to handle it & look it over. All I can say is very, very nice!

I'm sure he is a CGN member but I don't know his handle. Maybe he will chime in on this thread.

That said, I previously had a blued, wood stock Model 77 MkII in .44 Mag before, too. Circa 1999. It was a very nice rifle but this newer stainless/syntetic model is nicer.

NAA.

I had one of the older wood/blued ones a few years back. A beautiful little gun that simply would not shoot well with anything that I tried. I really wanted to find something that would work, but eventually traded it off to a buddy who "knew" he could make it shoot. He never did.

I may try another one...this would be a wonderful little fun gun if it shot well.

I have one of new batch, it is an incredibile rifle, very accurate the bolt action lock tite and with all weight of ammo it will shoot 2 inches or less and with Fiocchi Extrema 200 grs it will shoot one inch all day at 100 metres, never thouht i would get that kind of accuracy out of a pistol caliber carbine... Could be the 1 in 20 twist, no lever action can match that kind of accuracy... 3 inches in a lever is the best i get out of my Winchester or my Marlin both in 44mag at 100 metres, it is super brush gun... JP.

They are a nice rifle... the only problem hunting with a pistol cartridge is the limited range... it just depends on what you want to do...

You are right guntech but for 125 metres or less it is pefect... The first time you shoot a deer with a 44 mag you understand why this caliber is one of the favorite in the usa, it is a real stopper with minimal meat damage i dont use my 308 or my 300 mag no more,,, 125 metres in the wood is pretty far and as a bonus it weight only 5.5 pounds, so easy to carry... JP.

For me the frustration set in when that beautiful buck was 225 yards across a clearing... but under a 100 and it is great... mine wasn't that accurate either...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, my Ruger 77 44 is now my go to gun, confidence in your weapon is 90% of the succes... JP.

Sorry to ear that Miles Teg but if you try those Fiocchi Extrema 200 grs it could be a renew love, they shoot one inch all day in my 77 44... Cheers Jean ierre.

I had a wood/blued one about ten years back when I lived in Ontario, I added an NEC peep and a green hi-vis front sight. Sighted at 50 yards it shot ragged holes, liked the 300gr best, used it for short range hunting in upstate New York. It was deadly at close range, but step out in a meadow and you were outclassed, it had its place under certain conditions. Anybody who fired it commented that there was more felt recoil in that little rifle than the same load in model 29/629, odd but I got the same impression.

If i am not mistaken the older blue and wood where 1in 38 twist,i guess know with the 1in 20 twist its a different animal. I am a realoder but for my Ruger 77 44 the commercial ammo shoot so good it will not be worth my time to gain one quarter inch in grouping... All ammo i tried shot at or under 2 inches with the Fiocchi extrema 200 grs giving me clover all day. Cheers. JP.
