Was chatting with several hunting buddies and neither of us hunt Caribou before and are all interested would like to know what's involved and what to look for when shopping for a guided hunt.

Most likely Quebec is where we willing to travel (or if someone have better places to suggest).

Cheers

Great Hunt...We hunted LG 4 on the Le Grand River for many years. Nouchimi Outfitters, You don't need a guide! I haven't been for nearly 10 years, I understand it's getting very busy with Road Hunters, and of Course more expensive. If I were to go again, I would fly in to an Outpost Camp. You should do it at least once....It's staggering to see the huge herds migrating in late November. Hi, I have been caribou hunting twice in northern Quebec with Club Chambeaux. It's a fly in hunt and both times we went with 13 hunters and had a very successful hunt. On our first hunt, our outfitter moved us to a more productive outpost where we saw hundreds of caribou. They fly out of Montreal and then from Shefferville to one of their many outposts. We had the European plan which has no guide or meal plan but they offer a wide variety of hunts. At each camp there was a camp guide to point us in the right direction. I was very happy with Club Chambeaux on both trips and I would not hesitate to use them again. My suggestion would be to make sure your outfitter will move you if your 1st outpost has little caribou activity. Good luck.

My Mom and her BF go Cariboo hunting up there every year they can. They do the lotto draw for it though. But what they say is if you go at the right time, your biggest problem is choosing which one you want. If you're not there at the right time, the Cariboo might have moved on and be somewhere else.

Also, If you're interested in the rack ... you have to go earlier so the BIG ones haven't lost them yet.

Good luck.

Quebec offers fly in early hunts and drive to late season winter hunts. Both have merit. I have done the winter hunt and would now like to do the early fly in hunt. Nouchimi as mentioned earlier is Cree run and is a top drawer outfit.
