Anybody here hunt with a 6BR? I just picked one up from a fellow CGNer, and thought it would be perfect deer medicine.

Specs:

Rem 7 action, trued, bolt and handle skeletoned
20" Shilen 1-10" twist barrel in 0 contour (talk about thin!!)
Bansner stock in black
Weighs 5.5 lbs scope-less
Smithed by Bill Leeper

A Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40mm Z-plex will be mounted with Leupold rings.

I plan to go with Barnes 85gr TSX. This should be good for my LEH mulie doe  (And I won't ask if it's good enough for "mo__e" or "_lk" or "cari__u", because everyone will just say "Shot placement is key":D)

What are your experiences with hunting with this calibre?

The caliber is fine....6mm pills kill stuff pretty dead....Shot my first 30 or 40 deer with a 6mm remington and 100gr lead cup'n'core's....

As to the cartridge, who knows....What does it push the 85's at?

With the right powder, you will be over 3,000 ft/s with 85gn bullets.

I would not hesitate to hunt with mine, although I have not.

Use the right bullet. 6mmBR.com is your friend.

"...plan to go with Barnes 85gr TSX...." Use Barnes data. And no it's not enough for moose, elk or caribou. Neither is a .243 Win.
"...push the 85's at?..." 6mmBR.com says 3050 fps with an 87 grain V-Max. (No using V-Max bullets for deer though.) Just under 3000 fps(50 whole fps) with a Sierra 85 grain SP. 2600 FPS with a Sierra 100 grain SP.
