Hi.-

Just found this K98 this afternoon at Longueil Gun Show.

I know it's a K98, Mauser banner dated 1933, laminated stock, very nice finish, at the trigger guard/magazine assembly, two lock screws holes have been professionaly filed.

This rifle is in mint like new condition.

No German military proof mark on this rifle, but, full military.

So, do you think it's a kind of sample for a contract or commercial rifle?

Thanks

Nice looking rifle there.

Your rifle has been restocked with a late or post war stock.

On a early Mauser Banner, the front band (H Type) and band spring were a little different too. The buttplate should be flat as cupped showed up around 1942.

It's some sort of bubba job or post war rework of a Banner K or Standard Modell. They were all commercial proofed. Unfortunately it isn't anything too special at this point due to the heavy rework/modifications done to it.

Does the bolt match the receiver? Does it have the commercial proofs on the root?

I don't think the bolt is right for your 1933 Mauser as for other 1933 Mausers I have seen it goes like this:

The font for the " 1 " on the receiver is different than the font on the root of the bolt for the " 1 ".

The BGUN proofs should be where the bolt serial number is.

The serial number for the bolt should run down the stem of the bolt handle between the root and the ball end, but no serial number on the root.

The bolt could be renumbered, as is the stock, maybe postwar or bubba.
