Everytime I inquire about buying a fully-rifled cantilever slug barrel for my 870, I get the same response: "For the price, you can add a bit more money and buy yourself a used shotgun with a barrel combo."

Surely there must be somebody who makes a more affordable barrel for an 870, no? (If not, there may be an untapped market here.)

Mossberg is a source of barrels for 870s, but they don't make all Remington shotgun barrels.

You need 21"-24" to get a whole turn or 2 in the rifling in a shotgun a 12 or 14" rifled barrel would be useless.

Try thegundealer.net in NB. He lists new Remington Super Slug barrels with a factory mounted scope for $299.99

The number of turns made by the rifling in a given barrel length is irrelevant. Whether or not a given projectile at a given velocity is stabilized is determined by the rate of twist, not the number of turns the rifleing makes within the barrel.

Most muzzleloader and slug barrels actually have rifling twists that do not make one full turn in the length of the barrel.
