Anybody ordered from Lucky Shot Wood Stocks?

"Only ships to United States from Minnesota, United States."

ITAR controlled items (rifle stocks) in some cases. He would need to buy an export license at the least or have permission from the department of commerce.

Isn't it the shipper who would be breaking the law (assuming he didn't get the proper permit)?

It's both actually. The permit requires a business license and a $2500/year fee. They also have to do paperwork for each export which is why most small businesses don't export firearm parts out of the US.

I ordered and recieved my wood art from him and it looks great.

Some said USA only, some said will ship to Canada. I specifically asked and he said no problem. Very easy to deal with, long lead times though.

I guess techinically I can cover my ass by going thru the licensed importer...like Prophet River.

You can go the "Wood Art" route and have it shipped but is it honestly worth being flagged by the ATF?

I didn't go the wood art route. I simply asked if there was any issue shipping to Canada. He said no. That's how it was labeled when it got here.

Oh, OK. There is a reason he labeled it that, to try and hide the fact it's a firearm part. Stocks are ITAR controlled in some cases and in other cases they're EAR99/Commerce and don't require a license. It's possible his stocks can be legally exported. There is also the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) requirements that could need to be filled. It's complicated. He would need permission from the Department of Commerce in writing, at the very least.

You can read about ITAR here: https://www.pmddtc.state.gov/regulations_laws/itar.html

I am not an expert though, I bet if you e-mailed the guys at IRunGuns they could tell you exactly what is required of both parties for a wooden rifle stock.
