Looking for:

M39 with straight stock
Any of the others like a M28, M27, M24 anything Finnish I have narrowed down my collecting to Finnish mosins and I could use an American made mosin.

How much do they go for under $1000? I’m outta the loop.

P&S Guns & Militaria has about a half dozen M39 left but they are not straight stocked... Good luck with your search.

Straight stock sell for a significant premium. Vanilla rifle's are $1000 everywhere.

Check the EE. There a few listed there now.

If you don't find what you need, pm me your wish list. I often have Finns for sale.

I may be able to help with M24 and VKT or Tikka M91's

Just be aware recent M39 import that is for sale by Canadian vendors has ugly US import markings. I would not buy a rifle with markings when there are plenty of them in original condition.

That depends on the rifle and import marking version. For example, all M28's are import marked and Most M28/30's are. Most M39's with nice bores are import marked, the earlier imports were actually the dregs from Finland that Pat Burns didn't purchase - they came in 12 or so years ago through Collector's Source.

Some mport marks aren't bad, like the roll-stamped CAI marked guns or Marathon guns. It's a matter of perspective, but a great many Finnish rifles can only be had with these marks, so I don't think it's as objectionable as, say, on an Enfield or Mauser.

If you wanna see ugly, look at recent US import mosins - awful. markings take up the whole exposed part of the receiver!!

I had a collection of Finnish Mosin Nagants with all major models and some scarce variations. I built it in several years by trading for better examples so at least four times more passed through my hands. And I haven't seen any single rifle with us import markings until recent craze with m39 in US and subsequent import to Canada. Maybe my luck, I dunno.

They go back farther than that. I bought mine maybe 30 years ago from S.I.R. (for $128 IIRC) in excellent conditon with no import marking. They also had M28-30s for the same price, but I wanted the M39s sights. Obviously in hindsight, I should have gotten one of each.

Joel
