Anybody seen this happen to a scope before?

The lens has gone all cloudy. When you look through the scope it appears fairly normal- maybe a bit dim. The scope is still in zero. There is a few greenish flecks showing, that's just some reflection.

I assume a seal has broken, and it almost looks like there is dust on the inside of the lens.

I have a feeling that if this was winter instead of being hot and dry weather the scope would be all fogged up.

Looks like what can happen to camera lenses when they get fungus inside. The seal is broken on the scope and allows air inside replacing the nitrogen. Stuff can then grow. Worst case is that the lenses can be etched and need to be replaced. Hopefully you have a good warranty on the scope.

It is quite possible you have a lens separation... that sometime occurs when two ground lens that are 'glued' together loosen...
