I don,t have a 375, but I do have a 356. Mine shoots great around 1 1/2 to 2"at 100 yds. I use a williams FP peep sight. Stock up on brass they can be hard to find. Is yours an angle eject or top eject? Enjoy it they are fun to shoot.
It's a top eject without the hump-back monte carlo . I got all the brass it ever shot (14 pieces) plus a full box of 200gr power points. This thing is MINT. Since it came in it's original box, he could have said new, but for the 14 rounds fired.
I had a 94 in 375 sometime back, traded it off for something I lusted after at the moment. Now I keep my eyes open for a Savage 99 in 375, just because (I already have one in 38-55, which is close). - dan
I've got a 99 in 375, sweet shooter, I don't even bother taking it to the range anymore cause it's dialed right in, I wish one of the kids would bump it one of these days just to knock the scope out of whack so I can take it back out!!!! Very nice gun with very little recoil. I've got a couple 1899's in 38-55 as well and I find that they have even less recoil but that stands to reason as the 375 is loaded heavier.
Someone once told me I can shoot 38-55 out of the 375 but don't shoot 375 out of a 38-55. Kinda like the 38 special / 357 magnum rule.
I've a marlin. This cartridge is just a straight walled 30-30 which is a kind of cool place to be I figure. As said recoil is quite low. Performance at 30-30 ranges is quite impressive. I haven't hunted with mine but I've often thought it just might be the perfect tool for young or other small sized hunters, or for protection of same for large toothy beasts.
Nope, got dies, no gun anymore!
Bought a Marlin many yrs ago for deer huntin, never shot one with it but did shoot a moose with a #3 one time. Very impressive cartridge! I just use my Sav 38-55 now, 36gns of 3031 behind 220 horns works just fine!
Moose you say. Hmmm. Looking at the paper ballistics I was only hoping for CQBlack bear and deer, but I'd be up for chasing a moose with it.Every year it seems I want to go after game with one of the "others", but I end up using either my 30-06 or my .338. Hopefully this year will be different and the .375 has grabbed my attention enough to do it.
An aquaintence of mine's father (rip) bought a Bigbore 94 in .375 Winchester when they came out in the late '70's. Him and his wife put a lot of moose in the freezer over the years with that little rifle Of course my scoped .30-06 bolt gun was far superior in my opinion back then Ah, the wisdom of youth...
