Anybody use the Trijicon Tritium 3-Dot Night Sights?

My Glock 22 still has the factory sights, but I was pondering about upgrading them to something better. Now the question is: What’s better?

I stumbled across the Trijicon Tritium 3-Dot Night Sights and was wondering if anybody has experience with them.

I've always liked the Meprolights; orange front and green rears (I've also had yellow front, but it's very similar to the green)

Trijicon and Meprolight have been around for a long time and make quality products.

I found them harder to see in the daylight. But then I can hardy see any sights well these days!

Haha, no not at all, just am not a big fan of those factory sights. Might as well get some low-light help. You dig?

As mentioned above by B, the FO/Tritium combo are hard to beat. If its all outdoors, the HiViz are inexpensive and are exceptional. Indoors, they're kinda ho-hum but better than plain.

I had trijicon night sights on my Glock 17C, loved them.

Love them some much on my 1911 I put them on my old lady's baby eagle. Works nice if we shoot late @ night (dusk time) or in the DVC indoor range.

Had them on my Glock 23, they were fine.When they started to dim I switched to the
Heinie. I prefer the Heinie.

I have a two-dot setup now...it is something to get used to but definitely superior.

I was going to mention that they are good, glow green in the dark. As they get older they will lose their strength and will have to be replaced. I have had mine for 3 years and they are still good. How long it takes for them to stop glowing? I don't know. I prefer them to the mepro I have on my Kimber. The trij dots are all the same size, my mepro ones, the back ones are bigger than the front. Had the Trij ones first, so probably just more used to them. I find the option of different colored ones intriguing.

Half life of tritium is around 12 years, isn't it? So if you have a fresh set, after 12 years, they should be half as bright as when you bought them, and after 24 years, a quarter as bright?

I believe the last set I installed stated that they were good for 12 years.

I guess it all depends on what your standards of acceptable are...if a 25% loss of brightness is too much, they are only good for about 5 years...if you will run them until they are halfway, then you will get 12 years (assuming you bought them about 4 months after the tritium was manufactured, anyway).
