Anybody with newer Glocks having reliability problems?

Just bought a new Glock 17 gen 3, to avoid the gen 4 issues. Now I find out the later production gen 3 Glocks have issues too. Still waiting on the transfer, but wondering what the experience of 2010/11 production gen 3 Glocks, and gen 4 Glocks, is.
I have heard problems of erratic ejection, as well as stove piping and weak ejection.

And if I do have those problems in mine, are parts hard to come by? Are there parts that have helped those with reliability issues become more reliable?

Thanks in advance, I am probably worrying about nothing.

shoot the s**t out of it...

The best way for any issues to show up :D

OP: I shoot 700-1000 per week.

Have a gen3 G34 and it was perfect for 9000 rounds until I started tinkering......took a while to hammer them all down, but now she's back to perfection.

BUT...and a large but...these were issues that I brought on by tinkering.
She's always been perfect....except for those 2 weeks in her life when she had the flu... ;)

My only issues with ownership were self induced.

It's been utterly brilliant.

My best torture test was 2000 rounds over 2 days with no cleaning....and no issues.

I can't kill this thing d:h:

Most likely too much internet. If I'm wrong you can PM me and call me an arse

Glock always had some issues, but the official line was "perfection". Down in the USA they have an excellent customer service department though.
My Gen 3 model 17 was good, but certainly not perfect - quite often the slide didn't lock on the chambered round. I tried few different brands of ammo and magazines and there was no clear reason behind this issue. Pistol was made in 2008 I believe.

I got a gen4 17 for christmas, I started reading about issues before I picked it up. Finally got to shoot it and it jammed on the very first shot, (case ejected, but misfed the next round) I nearly cried. I think it was just trolling me though as it has since gone about 500 rounds or so with no problems.

It has a lonewolf barrel, but I am not would affect the ejection. I have never had a problem with my other Glocks (Gen 3's). Looks like I will have to do some reading on glock ejectors.

I had recurrent failures to extract with a Gen 3 G19 that came, new from Questar, with a sterile (unmarked) barrel that - based on the product description - I'd assumed to have been made by Lone Wolf. The failures plagued me until I switched the barrel for an IGB. (Problem solved. There has not been a failure of any kind ever since.) I asked Lone Wolf whether my sterile barrel had been made by them. The answer was no.

Long story short...are you sure your barrel is a Lone Wolf?

FYI: Questar is now bringing in restricted-length OEM Glock barrels for the G19. Contact Questar for availability.

I have a G17 Gen 4 and have never had a single issue with this pistol. It has been extremely reliable and I have put about 12000 rounds through it so far. Not one issue.

Glock has been trying to sort the issue out for some time. They have produced a number of RSA versions trying to figure it out. As of what I read lately, they have a final version of the RSA that is supposed to iron the issue out once and for all, but I have seen reports that the ejectors need to be replaced to an updated version as well once you put the new RSA in. I've gathered this info from a few quick google searches.

P.S. RSA = Recoil Spring Assembly.

Is this a trick? Everyone knows Glocks don't have issues. :stirthepot2: It's like that commercial where the Toyota is broken down on the side of the road and nobody stops to help as everyone figures it's some sort of trick because Toyota's well, they just don't break down. TWK Kidding of course.

gen 3 G17... 2,500 rounds down the pipe. I've never jammed it, not even once. However, my younger brother had a FTE due to limp wristing. Don't limp wrist

Once I can find a G19 I'll pick one of those up as well, gen 3 or 4, doesn't matter to me

I have a Gen3 Glock 17 that I have put about 4000 rounds through in the last 10 months without a single malfunction. My new Gen 4 Glock 35 came in the mail yesterday. I ran 200 flawless rounds through it today. We had a snow storm today, if the the conditions were better I wouldve shot it more, as 200 rounds really isnt enough to make a serious judgement call on reliability but Ill have to wait for another day. The Gen4 grip with no backstrap is a big improvement, and the new dual RSA made 40 feel like 9mm. I waited on buying a Gen4 because of the apparent issues but they seem to have been taken care of and I couldnt be happier with my purchase at this point.

About 1000 rounds through and the only problems were with my wimpy low PF reloads and the original too heavy RSA. With the Gen 3 RSA or with the newest Gen 4 RSA, it runs fine.

100% with all factory loads. Very accurate, slightly better than my Gen 3 17.
