... and within a 1 hour drive from Hamilton?

I will bring coffee, timbits, and $$

I want to send a barrrel to the US for hot bluing, and sending a receiver is a no-no, and I don't want the receiver reblued anyway.
Mauser 98 style barrel and receiver.

Thanks,
K.

Believe me, there are only a few in Canada. The US has many great options. I've had work done at Precision Bluing out of NC, and the work is impeccable.

and your canadian guy might remove the barrel for you to do the bluing, though i suspect it might be a bit more than a timmies and a donut....

I have pulled off all kinds of 98 barrels for guys... usually $20 a pop if it just involves the barrelled action. It takes 5 minutes.

Would the US shop run afoul of ITAR sending the barrel back across the border?

Speaking of bluing only a barrel - I have a rather nice Ross 1910R sporting rifle. It picked up some minor spots of rust on the barrel, and idiot sanded them off. Like with sandpaper. One of these days I have to polish up the barrel and hot water blue it.

So far, no issues. Of course, I have never sent a receiver across the border.

marshman......i know from personal experience that it is much easier to find locate and engage good gunsmithing in the USA...not because it isn't in Canada but I found it difficult to locate and engage good gunsmithing in Canada....once found it is good...but it is the finding ... for new shooters this is a very very real challenge ...

... and experienced shooters too.
I have several great Canadian connections. But several busy men vs. many great options in the US.
