Just wondering if anyone has bought a gun from Wholesale Sports. Did they provide good service? How are their shipping charges compared to SIR? I know SIR is going to charge me $25 for shipping, should Wholesale be about the same? I am going to call them tommorow to get the answers from them, but just thought I would get some opinions first.

Thanks!
Evan

I've bought a couple of guns from them. Shipping was around $20. One took 4 days and the other was 10 days.

The tricky part is them actually having the gun you want in stock. The last time I called I asked about 4 different rifles and they didn't have any of them in stock.

It would be hard to ship a gun for less than $25 through Canada Post, I haven't been able to do it for over a year I try to stay as light as possible without sacrificing strength. If they have it in stock, the mail order (in my experience) has been better than going to the store. For Rifles I have always gone to get them, 30 minutes away. I am too impatient to wait a week plus for the mail!

wholesale

The only problem I have with Wholesale is half of the staff don't know what heck your talking about unless you have a number they can look up in the computer.I found the folks at Russell's to be more on the ball and they usually have the stuff that the Wholesale staff can't find or don't have. If the usual guy I deal with at Wholesale isn't there I will wait for another day till he isn't the store.I bet half of the younger staff at Wholesale are tempted to ask me if I want fries with that order!

WS is fine to deal with, for me anyways.

There is a $7 overlength fee on packages over 1m long, so the $25 fee is right in line.

Just beware of Wholesale's website and printed catalogue. Item numbers and prices may be way off and you could end up getting something you don't want (been there, done that). Yes, they often have kids answering the phone who don't know anything. Make SURE they have the correct firearm, the correct item number and correct price and make a note of who you spoke to when you made the order. Also that they have your correct address (if you've ordered from them in the past and have moved, Wholesale Law indicates that your prized acquisition will be sitting outside your old place).

I bought one a few years back and everything went fine. However, the last couple of times I tried, they didn't have what I wanted in stock. So, Russels and SIR got the business.

Good luck.

:D

I just bought 3 more Ruger Compacts from Ws & never had a problem. When I phoned about the 223 she said they had 1 left, told her to put my name on it & I would Express post a m.o.Said she could not do that :( So I sent the m.o. and they called saying they recieved it & the Ruger 223 Compact was mine.:D DAN>>>

Prices can change with more rapidity than you care to know. the prices in the Catalogue are accurate at time of printing, but they could also change the week after the catalogue is printed...

Their prices were reasonable as were their shipping, the gun came fairly quickly, it would have been a good experiance except they sold me a 590 with plain stock instead of the speedfeed as in the picture on their website, their ability to respond to customer complaints also is poor.

I recently experiences some difficulties; see my story in the reloading thread....last time I ordered, it took 6 wks to get my rifle and a fair amount of "coaching" on my part........I would still consider them but I might be more firm next time.

Lessons from the last experience:

1. if they don't have it in stock, it could take them a month or so to ship it between their various locations (i.e Edm to Cal); and,

2. make sure you confirm your billing address and shipping address, especially if it is the same address, they sent mine to the wrong address.

Gunsmoke,

Some time ago, I ordered a Remington XR100 and a set of rings for it, I waited a while, and seeing no gun, I called, they said they were waiting for the rings before they shipped the rifle, good thinking, but maybe call me and let me know??
After a longer wait time with no rifle or rings, I called and cancelled.
I think they mean well, but a little bit lack of organisation?
P.S. I really dont' get their web site.
Just my .02$.
