Anyone buy a Glock MOS with Riton Red-dot kit recently?

I purchased a Glock 17 Gen 5 Riton kit a few weeks ago from Reliable Gun.

When I got it home, I realized that none of the mounting plates in the MOS kit were an exact match for the mounting holes of the Riton red-dot. In addition, there were no screws included with either the MOS kit or the Riton that would allow it to be mounted.

I asked Riton about this and they sent me more screws in the mail... of the types I already had. :(

I took it back to Reliable Gun today and we compared it to another MOS kit and Riton optic they had in stock and both had the same problem. I left it with them to follow up with the distributor who is doing the bundle. Anyone know who the distributor is for Glock in Canada?

It seems that something recently has changed with either the MOS plate or the Riton optic that don't allow them to be compatible. Yet, this is a popular kit nation wide.

I can't be the first/only person to run into this.

Anyone else?

Did you ask them what "plate" footprint they built there RDS for? so like RMR, Leupold, C-More etc?
If there RDS is "proprietary" then you will have to get a plate made to fit the RDS and mount to the Glock.

If its an X3? Their own webside says "Desgined with an RMR-type footprint"

And has dimensions

I only have RMR's but I have had to find my own screws for some of the mounts I have them mounted on
Either needed a specific longer length or thread pitch and diameter then what came with the RMR's oddly

Thanks, but the red dot in the kit must be the MPRD, because this is the footprint that it had... And as I said, it's not compatible with any of the MOS plates in the Glock kit. I think the distributor is accidentally bundling the wrong optic with the Glock. They should be bundling the PRD, and not the MPRD. Although maybe it's just my retailer (Reliable Gun) that's screwed this up. Maybe they are bundling the wrong Riton optic with the Glock. I'll call them next week and find out.

I believe that is your problem because other retailers selling the Glock MOS kit with a Riton site package are selling them with the Riton X3 TACTIX PRD that should fit a RMR mounting plate

In fact Reliable Gun has another listing on their site for a Glock 34 MOS with Riton Combo kit and that specifically lists the following
Glock 34 Gen5 MOS Optic Kit Semi-Auto Pistol - 9mm, 5.31", Black, Adjustable Rear Sight w/ Red Dot Optic Kit (Riton X3 Tactix PRD), 3x10rds

So this is all very confusing. I talked to Riton. They have two versions of the X3 PRD... The 2018 version comes in a box with white sides and does not have a RMR foot print and needs a special adapter plate to mount to a Glock. Then they have their more recent version with all black box that uses an RMR footprint. The guy at Riton said they sent a bunch of adapter plates to Canada for use in this bundle/promotion.

Reliable Gun has only the white box version with non-RMR foot print. I compared mine to the other they had in stock... same thing. No adapter plates.

Reliable Gun contacted the distributor and they are clueless. They said I should return it for a refund and didn't offer any other option.

I'm currently working with Riton to get the special adapter plate.

I can't believe I'm the only one who's had an issue. Reliable Gun says they've sold lots of these kits and no one has complained. Maybe the adapter plate was in their kit. It wasn't in mine, or the other one that Reliable Gun is selling.

What a mess.

I managed to get mine mounted by filing out the mounting holes a tiny amount on the Riton optic and buying some M3x8mm screws from Amazon. The filing allowed the mounting holes on the Riton to better align with the Glock plate #1 for the Docter footprint. Riton is sending me a different mounting plate. It will be interesting to see what that is.

Looks like I’m in the same predicament guess I gotta call riton

I wouldn’t bother. The plate they will send you mounts to one of the Glock plates, so you end up with the optic on a plate on a plate. It’s a kludge. What I would suggest, is what I did... get a small round file and file out the mounting holes in the optic on the forward side to elongate them a bit. That will allow some screws to make good contact with the holes in the Glock plate #1. Then buy some M3x8mm screws (got a set off Amazon for $20) and used some purple locktite to keep them fastened.

These are the screws I used... https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07PXCLVS3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

BTW, the assenine distributor that is putting these non-functional kits together needs to be called out. If you can find out who’s behind these bundles, please let us know.

I order one from Tenda Black Friday sale, do I need to measure or just by looking at the box can tell whether the one has RMR foot print?

Would you mind show me a picture of 2018 version's box?

Thanks!!

I just received my order from Tenda, they have the older version of Red dot, which NOT have RMR foot print. Be carefully with your Black Friday order.

This is sad to hear as they were a great deal. Better to go with the regular MOS and buy a dot that fits the regular RMR plates given the price of some of the other optics combination pistols.

The guy at Riton told me that the newer optic with the RMR footprint has an all black box. Mine has white sides. The guy at Riton also told me that they shipped a bunch of adapter plates with these old optics to Canada but clearly the local distributor or retailer has completely neglected that aspect. It would be interesting to find out what happened here.

But As I said earlier, it’s a simple mod to mount it on the #1 Glock MOS plate. With some screws from Amazon after you elongate the mounting holes a tiny bit with a file.
