Regular chrome plating should not be done on a firearm, it will destroy all of the dimensions that are fitted. It involves two layers, one of copper, the second Chrome. Dipping is far worse than electro plate. If you just have to have a chrome gun, the industrial hard Chrome process is the only one to use, and as far as I,m aware is only available in the US. Even it increases dimensions and yields a much tighter gun. Be a lot easier to buy stainless if you gotta have it shiny.
