Anyone dealt with roll pins that is a hollow tube? (which is not an anti-roll pin)

Just checked my new Ruger SR-22 model 3620 pistol and found the roll pin is made of rolling a sheet metal instead of a solid roll pin. If you check the official Ruger site for all the SR-22 models you will see the 3620 pin has a white circle which shows that is it hollow. Not sure why they do it may be the sheet metal will try to expand and less likely to move? Have that said, anyone dealt with pin like these before? Is it safe to take them out with a punch (Ruger spec says 3/32 punch... perfect I have that for the Glock anyway)? Not sure I can put that back in, if not I will have to find a replacement solid roll pin. I know down the road I will need to replace the takeout lever which requires me to take out the trigger group. I take out the pins from my Glock all the time for this and that so I hope something like this for the SR-22 doesn't need a gunsmith...

the call those spring pins, and it's actually a spring. removing it with a punch will work but they actually make a spring pin punch that has a nipple on it to keep it centered so the pressure is applied to the sides of the pin equally and keep it centered but careful work with a regular punch works just fine

If it hasn't any Wearing marks it shouldn't be a problem to remove and reinstall just make shure you don't roll the edges and deform it. Punch it out nice and Straight with a flat punch and buck it up on the back side if its not flat use a small socket to surport the part.best of luck to ya go slow and don't wail on it.

One caveat....

Even with the correct pin punch for removal and installation, re-using a spring pin is a bit of a crap shoot. Some can be reused many times. Others take a set and will creep out when removed and replaced. Get spares.

I thought roll pin, spring pin, tension pin meant the same thing.

+1 on getting the proper punch if you're going to be doing much work on the gun. I got a set of roll-pin punches from Princess Auto which has served me well over the past few years.
