Just wondering if this happened to anyone else?

The bubba'd block welded in the bottom of one of my sks mags fell out due to the recoil. Looks like whoever welded it grinded a bit too much off so there wasn't much weld left and the thing just fell out after firing 100-150 rounds through the gun.

I opened the mag at the range and to my suprise the block just fell out on the ground.

I have welded it back in there now despite wanting to just leave it that way.

Mother Nature...

It's not someone's fault.
That little block felt so ashamed and stupid doing what it is supposed to do that it decided to go its separate way... sometimes things have to take human matters into their own hands, it's a fact of life...

I have to admit, I feel lucky that I got one with the small "tube" welded in the middle of the... is it called a "follower"?

I think one problem with the big chuck welded to the mag floorplate is that it is too heavy! Inertia from the weight of the welded chunk and the recoil would indeed put lots of stress on the (probably too-quickly made) weld...

Yeah I was just happy that I didn't decide to take the thing to the range before it was fixed and took my other sks. Last time I was shooting there was a uniformed RCMP at the range. He was a friendly guy and all asked about the guns and such. When he found out my sks wasn't a norinco he wanted to have a look at it.

As he was looking at it admiring it I was thinking to myself "how bad would this suck if I had brought the one with the broken mag"

He may not have cared, he may have, either way I'm glad I didn't find out.

I'll second PP's opinion... And add... That little block "was" a lieberal... "Saw the light"... And just couldn't face the fact that he was a lieberal at one time... And simply threw himself right out of that lieberalized magazine!!!

Ha ha ha!

Cheers

Funny my Nork tork did the same thing to the safety that had been added as a afterthought. spat it right out.

In whispering mode:
"Lou, why being so Cartesian? you gotta believe in things, man... :p
Hear the voice in your head, Lou...
Lou, feel The Force all around you... See? that little block has returned from the Dark Side... :)"
