So after purchasing a .270 Pro-Hunter bbl I obvioiusly began to do some research on load data for this caliber. I settled on Rem. brass, Fed 210 primers and for $hits & giggles I bought a bag of Rem. CL 130gr bullets as well as some Nosler 130gr Accubonds. Now the powder was giving me some grief. I could'nt decide on either IMR or Hodgdon (4350,4831 and so on). But I did have about 1/2 lb of H1000 left over.
So I began with the starting load of 61.0grs H1000 and the max loads of
64.0C.
I seated the Core Lokts to just below the cannelure for a COL of 3.388.
The 1st 3 shot group with the start grs had three holes touching @100yds
The max charge of 64.0C opened up to well over an inch.
Then I tried the Accubonds
, Nothing even close to the sub 1/2" groups I got with the Core Lokts
So then, what would you do. Stick with my original loads or move on to improve groups with the Noslers? Anyone else have some proven data with H1000 and their 270 with 130grs boolits?
