Anyone ever butcher up and back pack all the meat out solo in a Ruck sack ?
Just wondering how well it fit?
Ive done it with deer no problem. Im more of a solo hunter and am thinking of going for my first elk this year.

I've packed many moose in quarters and several elk mostly alone with the bone in.Younger then but smarter now.........Harold

If only all those tree hugging bambie lovers knew what we put ourselves through every time we pull the trigger... They think we hunt/kill for fun... mmmm hmmm They've got no idea the work that we bring ourselves after that good squeeze....
LoL, I too break out in cold sweats and my spine goes numb when i smell moose meat being cooked.... HahahaLots of good advice here for sure, as in first of all go get yourself in shape (if you are not already there) because as you know it's not a walk in the park.
We weighed a bull moose hide once and it was over 100lbs, just the hide. We left it at the camp. I carried each of the 4 quarters to the float plane myself, but it was only about 50 yards and that was far enough. And i was 25 years younger than I am now.
I would bet it will be at least 6 trips if it is a mature bull and 1 more trip for the antlers
Good luck to you. Have fun
Go to a hardware store. Buy a couple bags of sand/cement/dirt etc, load up your pack, go for a hike in the bush. Let us know how much you can carry for a reasonable distance.
