I`ve wondered about this over the years. With all the Enfields sold as surplus in this country in the 60s and 70s as anyone ever come across their issue rifle?
Or what about the small number of FN C1s that made it to Canadian hands?

I know of a local collector (New Zealand) who managed to get his hands on the L4A4 Bren he was issued with in the 1970s. He tracked it down to a dealer in the UK after they were disposed of as surplus in the 1980s and had it imported back to NZ.

The best rifle shot in Canadian history(my opinion) was given his FNC1 as a gift from DND. I won't say who he is, but he was Infantry, Royal Canadian Reginment. That moment even made Sentinal magazine. True story, and I am glad for him!

I know of a man met him in the ealy 80's capt retired/sublist came out to shoot CFSAST. when he was reg came across a FNC! out in the field, small tree grew around the barrel, cut it out of the tree, took it to the MP's no record of it,so he kept it and registed it, I saw the rifle with the rest of his collection,

And the Govt will probably seize it soon.

then there was the guy who bought a M1 from the CMP. On stripping it, he found his name pencilled under the buttplate. It was the same rifle he carried in the korean war!

Hi I had an 8L series FNC1A1 when I was on the CDN Aiborne Regt rifle team 1983/84,Team got issued 8L s right from storage new still in grease ,Great shooter.
In fact I think (if memory is correct) we also had a backup rifle (our regular issued one) in case that one had problems during CFSAC.
Also had an armourer also assigned to the team.
CFSAC was 2 weeks in August At Cannaught.CO s like their team to win,Shooting mon to friday all day long to prepare months before great fun .

I saw a couple AR 10T's sell that came from my Batallion but I wasn't quick enough. Not sure how it happened since supposedly we have a rule now saying Smelter not Surplus!!
