Anyone ever had Jason Spencer build you a rifle?

ICQ: The crusty German was George POHL.He was great but SLOW!!!I had a drilling in for some claw mts years ago and left it with him. A year later(!!) I went to his shop and it was still in the rack, all dusty, and he said"You can't rush these things!"A real Character,Needless to say I took it to Siggy Trillus and it was done in a week! Old times!! Jason has a grubby shop with a mottly assortment of consignment guns behind the counter. The goods in the display cases are limited.

BUT, he is never not talking on the phone or dealing with one customer's concerns or another. He drives a nice truck and takes time off when he wants. Pay the man what he asks, and you get served like a prince.

I'd say he has all the work one man can handle and then some.

Gunco is first and foremost a word class gunsmithing endeavor and a shop only as a side interest. The front is sparse though the odd good deal is in the racks. Out back though are a large assortment of top notch machines, lathes, mills, etc. and a man who REALLY knows how to use them to their fullest potential ;) I'd guess 95% of Gunco's profit is from repairs and custom builds. The other 5% is from consignment sales.

Believe me, Jason;s not hurting for work or income and his prices are fair.

been to his shop once just to check it out
seemed like a decent guy
but from what i have heard he is one of the best in canada and having seen clavens new toy i would not hesitate to get him to do something for me if i wasnt such a poor bugger lol

Jason a good guy. He put a recoil pad on one of my rifles.
Hasn't fallen off yet. :)

He also knocked out a stuck case and didn't charge me for it...

And he'll order spare magazines and other parts if you ask him.

Claven, did you forgot to mention that his dog is there all the time with him?

Lol... yes, Max goes EVERYWHERE with him. I forget the breed name, but he's a medium sized purebred upland game dog with short red hair. Real friendly dog too - has his own stool :)

I've brought in guns for repairs and most he did on the spot for free. Other times he had them in and out within a day. He charges fair prices (excellent).

So far he's done a barrel swap on a Lee Enfield No4MkI* and installation of a mag safety on my HP. He also head space checked about 4 or 5 of my Enfields free of charge. And last but not least, I snagged a No5MkI Jungle Carbine from him the day it hit the rack (transfer to him not even completed yet) at an unbelievable price. I haven't had the money yet to get him to do any custom work for me but based on this and other threads, I wouldn't hesitate.

He's a busy man and it's easy to see why.
