Compared with factory new rounds has anyone ever had light cycles or light pops with surplus 762x39 surplus? What are the opinions of the "stankiness" of the surplus loads?
I never had any issues with any of them. The stankiest by far the Norinco 7.62X39 that Marstar sells but it's actually quite accurate as far as surplus ammo goes. It really does smell funny though...
I've had a few light primer strikes causing failure to fire. Like 3 out of 5000+ rounds fired. I Consider that acceptable and it may be an issue with the gun not the ammo.

I've used Romanian, Czech (the best IMHO) and Chinese surplus m43 rounds and have never had a squib load, a light load, or FTF. I haven't shot anywhere near as many rounds as some, but I have gone through several crates of M43 ammo. I've shot this ammo through 3 different SKS's and my CZ858.
The ammo is certainly dirtier than commercial ammo, and it's got corrosive primers (for reliable ignition in 40 below), but that's taken care of by proper cleaning after shooting.
