anyone familiar with the redfield accurange scope???

just picked up a accurange old glossy scope, looks good except the elavation cap screw is stripped. anybody familiar with this scope? do i need to remove that cap to get to the adjusting(sighting in)/set on 2(like tactical turrets) once i get my 200 yard 0? also am a little confused over the whole ranging thingy. i think im supposed to bracket the 18 " on a target while playing with the variable,then read what it tells me on the tombstone scale, after that i can select the zoom i want,and then i think i adjust the elavation to correspond with that range, starts at 2 then goes to 6 . im assuming 200-600 yards.
