Anyone fired/held the Thompson/Center Hot Shot?

I'll be looking to buy my son his first rifle in the spring and I came across the T/C Hot Shot. It's a nice looking rifle and the size seems appropriate for him, although I worry about the break-barrel action while shooting from a rest.

I'm also considering the Henry Mini-Bolt Youth, Savage Cub T and the Marlin 915Y.

I've had him out shooting my scoped Anschutz 190, but as you can see it's a little big for him:

I don't know how he can see anything through the scope, but he's pretty good with it. He nailed this half-inch disc fragment at 25 yards:

Thanks for the advice!

I have not seen or handled one, but it sure looks nice. Your son looks to me like he is going to want a magazine fed 22 in not too many years and that single shot won't get much use. My 6 year old was using a CZ scout until he found the thompson center r-55 was more accurate and swiped it. with a bipod and a good scope with lots of eye relief these little guys start to outshoot us pretty dogone quick. I wouldn't hesitate to buy him something he can grow into as he will use it for many more years.

I think I can buy a regular size stock for the scout (452) stock which will fit, they are nice as they have the single shot insert magazine and can get up to 10 shot magazines.

Here's a vote for the Savage Cub. I got the non-thumbhole version (in pink laminate!) for my 11-year-old granddaughter and she loves it. Peep rear sight and Accutrigger...perfect for teaching a beginner. Way less expensive than a T/C too. I'm very satisfied with this gun.
