Does anyone Foul their barrel before going hunting?

How many shots and can you leave a barrel fouled for a week without damage?

Is this recommended for accuracy?

................my win 94 in .38-55 always needed a fouler or the first shot went too high. I can't see it being damaging. But maybe the more experienced guys will chime in.

My ruger M77's have always been best with 20 or more rounds down the pipe so yes I hunt with a fouled barrel. I also blow one through the barrel at the end of the day when hunting if it's been snowing or raining rather than clean it. Cleaning it always screws up the first few shots I've found but maybe I'm just lazzy ;)

After final sight in of my game loads, I nvere clean the barrel again until December. As long as the gun isn't abused you should have no problem.

This would be me as well

You can count me in x6, if I am not shooting corrosive there should be no problems!

I test all of my guns to see if the first shot out of a clean barrel impacts at the same location as further shots out of a fouled barrel. In the case of my rifles, the point of impact is the same,so I don't worry about it.

Call me crazy but I see a pattern here :D

When I get to the range I always fire a fouling shot through my clean barrel. After I sight in my game loads I don't clean my barrel until after the season. However, if I get rained on while on a hunt, I will run an oily rag through the bore.

I do the "martinbns" thing, but tend to shoot my riflres a whole bunch during tthee season also, so may clean them periodiclly, however but onlyy if i can zero them again.

I personally keep my barrel clean, shift is easily less than one inch at 200 and most of my shots come much closer than that.
