So I took my new (to me) Savage MkII TR out today for the first time.
I knew it wouldn't be on from the get go as I just changed the rings on her, and was playing with the dials while I was bored the other day (Don't ask why I do that but I do...).
So I sighted it in roughly (as I had a line of people waiting to shoot it too) on a tree only 15-18m away. As soon as I was hitting the same mark in a row, it was "good enough" for the day.
I then started aiming about 50m away, and took a shot. A giant spark caught my eye. I look at the end of my barrel, nothing. The casing, nothing. The bore, nothing. I put another round it, there it was again! Re did the check and again nothing. Took a few more shots and finally figured it out.
The way the sun was (behind us) and we were shooting into a just shaded area, we were seeing the light on the @ss end of the bullet and could watch it fly (if your eyes were young enough). We re positioned to take some shots out at 100m and we could still see the trajectory. Boy is that handy when you are trying to make the shot at 100m. Pretty neat to see, anyone else get this before?
Oh, and before I forget, I LOVE my new Savage! 100m group with a rough sight in was about a 10inch group, and could knock clays down 3out5 shots! Can't wait to really sight it in properly.
