Anyone had this problem with their Suomi KP31? Safety turning itself on, on its own

Hi folks,

Bit of a mystery here. Every time I fire my Suomi KP31, the safety come on.

If I switch in on and of myself, there is good resistance to movement, so it's probably not because of the minimalistic recoil.

So I am trying to figure out what else, mechanically speaking, could cause this situation.

Not fun having to turn the safety off after every shot...

the only problem I ever had was the barrel falling off. you may of seen the video...
haven't fired a lot of rounds out of mine but never had a problem with the safety engaging.

Is there a spring, ball and dent on the safety? Ball missing?

I took the trigger assembly apart, and the plunger and its spring are there. Will try to think about this assembly tonight. it worked fine for several hundred rounds, so some wear is probably the culprit.

Well, I may have solved my issue, even if it took me half a day...

No picture, but, in a few words:

the "L"-shaped portion, on the underside of the sear (I think it's the sear), on which a horizontally-positioned spring is acting, was rubbing against the safety, when that sear was sliding backwards. I think that was enough of a push to give the safety enough momentum to slide all the way to the "on" position. Just tried it, three shots, all good. Will do a more thorough test next range trip, maybe a cautious "woohoo" for now,

I am currently having the same problem...or at least I was until my receiver cracked... but that a problem for another day. Lou, do you have any updates on whether or not your fix worked? And if so any chances a some photos so I know what I'm looking for the next time I take mine apart? Mine also worked perfectly when I first received it for a couple hundred rounds, but now the safety engages every shot.

I was able to improve the situation but not completely resolve it. So in the end i sold it (with full disclosure), and that was the end of that story for me!

Sad times! haha. I tried filing the detent deeper in the trigger group, but that doesn't seem to have worked for me.
