( I can't insert the image here for some reason:mad:)

I am thinking of possibly selling one of my custom 10/22's to finance this purchase. I just have the hankering for a good bolt action rifle.

Whatever the variation you choose, you can't go wrong with an Anschütz sporter 54 action. It's THE action against all the other serious bolt actions are compared. It's extremely well designed, very stong, it has a superb trigger and the barrels are top notch.

I own an older variation (a 1422) and it's very accurate. Tenex EPS is its favorite ammo. I got an average of .262'' for 5, 5-shot groups at 50 meters. That type of accuracy from a sporter is amazing.

One last warning: when you'll see what your new Anschütz will do, you may never want to got back to your Rugers...

Hey Paul, that sounds like one accurate rifle. Where did you get yours from? I emailed a fellow named Peter at Target shooting products as I see that they are Anschutz dealers. I am curious to what models he can get and the turn around time?

This would be the 10/22 I would sell to finance this project. Just curious if there would be some interest out there in it if I did part with it. (I would prefer to sell it as an entire package minus the scope)

Yep, I've got one. THE rifle of choice for small bore silhouette shooting. Has a little more drop in the stock to help with scope alignment, a little heavier barrel helps to get the rifle settled and a sweet two stage trigger. I shoot with a group of 12 who shoot silhouette every thursday at Galt Sportsmens Club, of the 12 the top eight shooters use an Anschutz, four of us use the 1712. You will not be disappointed.

How was the wood on yours? Where did you get it and how long did you have to wait?

i was speaking to him last week as i am also interested in one of those rifles, and he has them in stock.. he can get any rifle in a relatively short time. and had most of the ones i asked about in stock..

Bull's-Eye,

The guy from International Imports you are talking about is Peter Krause, a super nice guy to deal with, he really knows his stuff.

My 1422 was manufactured in the '70. Here's a pic:

Hey Bulls-eye:
The wood on my rifle is pretty good but some of the other guys got awesome wood with theirs. I got mine from FM Shooting Sports in Guelph but he orders through International imports in Toronto. I had to wait about a month. I owned a 1710 before I got the 1712, the 1712 just hangs out there so much nicer because of the extra weight in the barrel that as soon as I tried one I sold the 1710 and bought the 1712.

So do these ever come up for sale used ?

Or do I have to talk to Peter at target, although there is a post on here about P and D starting to carry them as well possibly in the future.

I have a few Anshutz rifles already but they are all match rifles, so I was looking at these as well for silhouette and gopher hole punching.

Wow, that a pretty good endorsement. I was also thinking of the 1710 Model with the double triggers but you make the 1712 seem so amazing that it has almost made up my mind. I am 95% 5% on the issue :D.

Check out these sites, Pawel (shooting Paul) knows lots of silhouette shooters out your way and may be able to link you up with a local that has a 1712 that you could get a look at.

Annie 1712

Here's my 1712. I really like it. Use it for interclub shoots. We have a mix of Benchrest and standing paper/steel. Great rifle. I was lucky w. the wood. I had a 1710 before; sold it, and replaced it w. the 1712. Both are fine rifles.
Definetly contact Peter Krause; great guy to deal with.

Lots of Silhouette folks are opting for the 1712 fwt. with the two stage trigger. Buying the barrelled actions and restocking using one of the fine stocks made by Robertson composites here in Canada.

Check out the steelchickens website. Seems to be the most active silhouette shooters board at the moment. Lots of info there.
